Treasures of My Heart – Our Family Photos

I’ve wanted to have our family photos taken professionally for a long time. I first discussed the idea with my husband when Kenan was about one but somehow, we never quite manage to get down to it. But as I watch him grows so quickly, I felt the urgency to capture this present moment – when he still has a bit of the baby fats on his cheeks, when he’s still little and so carefree.

I know more than a year is a long time to decide on something. I blame it on my hubby’s hectic schedule. But in reality, I think it was more because I couldn’t make up my mind about the photographer.

But when I saw Steph Tan‘s photos, I knew my ‘problem’ was solved. I followed her blog for a while and love how her photos have a certain poetic quality that make them so heartwarming and beautiful. So about two months ago, I got in touch with her and was happy to know that she’s available to be our photographer.

We discussed about the locations and eventually I chose the Singapore botanic gardens because of  the plentiful greenery. It was also to make sure that there’s something to keep my son entertained while we are hard at work being photographed. It turned out to be a great choice for the two reasons. Of course, Steph’s eye for what makes a photo beautiful transformed the ordinary into something extraordinary!

Here’s sharing some photos from our album. They are all before Steph’s editing – I just can’t wait to share them *smile*

Thank you so much Steph, for capturing these beautiful photos. They are our treasures!
Many thanks to Fiona Lau too, for doing my hair and makeup!

Thanks, Megan! Kenan was actually talking to the dog :) He even told the dog, “I like you!” and everyone including the owners burst out laughing!

oh wow. thanks ruth! :) for the trust and for blogging so beautifully about your experience. i loved how your family was just open to playing around naturally. we did some semi-posed shots, but candid moments are such gems, and they’re only possible if the subjects are willing to forget about the camera and be in the moment. you guys are awesome! ;) fab make-up by fiona too! loved the waves on your hair. :)
