Live. Simply.

So life threw me a curveball last week. To say that it’s been tough is perhaps an understatement.

While I’m  trying to stay positive and struggled to make sense of what happened, I’m reminded that we will never have full control over our life, we should stop pretending that we do.

I’m reminded too, that life is better enjoyed when it is simpler, because the greatest joy often comes from the simplest things in life.

So I have been doing simple things over the weekend.

Such as resting as much as I could (been coughing for almost a month and having disturbed sleep the whole time), doing some reading, escaping to nature with a stroll by the beach with the two persons I love the most in the world.

And I’m contented. I cherish these simple moments that rejuvenated me and made me happy.

While at the beach, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that our little boy has overcomed his fear/dislike of sand. He walked barefooted on the sand and even enjoyed playing with it. The best part is, we did nothing to make this happen.

But nothing beats seeing my son being happy. A smile on his face makes two in my heart.

What gives you the greatest joy in life?

I think you nailed it right on the head. My kids are grown and still my moments of greatest joy seem to be when they are feeling joy!

Hi May, thanks for your comment! I guess no matter how old our kids are, what happens in their lives will always matter to us and we will always want to see them happy.

Hi Ruth, glad to hear that enjoying these simple moments with your family. Do rest up to recover from your cough. Often being over tired takes a toll on our body and health.

Thanks Susan! Yes, I’m feeling better already. Thankfully it’s not a virus or infection and the new medicine helped. Slept pretty well last night :)

Sorry! I hit enter too quickly :-)
What I was going to say is isn’t it amazing when they overcome something all by themselves, when they find the strength and courage within themselves? And I hope you feel better!

Thanks Christine! It’s true how the little ones can amaze us with their courage – and sometimes all we need to do is to give them our trust that they can grow into resilient individuals.

Small moments, just like these, really and truly make me the happiest, bring me the greatest joy.

I love what you wrote about your son overcoming his fear, without you doing anything. Le sigh – that does a MamaHeart so very much good, doesn’t it?

{Beautiful photos! He’s pure adorable!}

Love what you said – it’s indeed often the small moments of joy that captivate our hearts the most.

Yes, I’m so proud of the little one overcoming his fears on his own!
