I like to look good. While I don’t aspire to be the next Mrs Singapore, I feel strongly that taking care of the way we look is a part of self-care and we (especially as moms) should not feel guilty about it.
So when Laneige, a leading Korean beauty brand, invited me to their Makeup Atelier Session, I was happy to go and pick up some skincare and makeup tips.
The two-hour workshop was held on 2 September at the Fairmont Hotel. It was facilitated by Laneige’s Marketing Manager Isabelle Lim and demonstrated by Yuji Tong, Laneige’s Makeup Artist from Hong Kong.
Laneige Water Bank skincare and Laneige makeup products we tried at the workshop
During the workshop, we were introduced to Laneige’s popular signature Waterbank skincare range as well as some of their latest makeup products.
Laneige believes that proper hydration is fundamental to achieving healthy, radiant skin and their Waterbank series is created for this very purpose. I tried some of the products in this range and I must say it does make my skin feels so much softer.
To prep our skin for makeup, we were taught the Laneige’s ESTEEM regime. It consists of eye, soap, toner, emulsion, essence, moisturiser, all of which are vital to keeping skin hydrated and youthful.
One thing that I learnt is that we should not skip essence and only apply moisturiser because essence works to penetrate and hydrate the deeper layers while moisturiser targets the skin surface.
After our skin was properly cleansed and hydrated, we were ready for makeup. Yugi showed us how to achieve Korean celebrity looks using the latest makeup techniques and Laneige’s makeup products.
We were given a set of handy, travel-size brushes in our goody bag. We put that to good use during the makeup segment of the workshop.
While many were eager to learn makeup techniques, I was looking forward to trying the different products and what a a bonus to discover some great items!
For foundation, we used the award-winning Snow BB Soothing Cushion. This BB cream is light and more watery than others I’ve tried. You can apply it with a brush, and for coverage of blemishes, just dab with finger and gently tap on the specific areas. What’s even better is that the Snow BB Soothing Cushion comes with SPF 50!
We received a sample of the BB cream in our goody bag. To use, just dab brush on the sponge to pick up the bb cream.
Another two products which I liked are the eyebrow pencil (Natural Brow Liner – Auto Pencil) and liquid eyeliner (Extra Easy Eyeliner).
The eyebrow pencil glides on smoothly to prevent creating a harsh look and the end-effect is natural looking brows.
I have tried using liquid eyeliners in the past but they were hard to manipulate so I’ve given up on them. But the Laneige one was real easy to manage. Also, to use, all you have to do is to give it a shake and twist one end of the tube and it’s out.
At the workshop, I got to catch up with fellow Singapore mom bloggers Madeline and Ai Sakura! Ai Sakura has a post detailing makeup tips that Yugi shared, read her post here.
I also had a photo taken with Yugi. He was able to share the makeup tips in a fun manner and was a real friendly guy.
Laneige has opened a new flagship boutique store at ION. I’m going to check it out!
Thank you, Laneige, for the invite!

Hi! I'm Ruth.
I love hanging out at cafes. It's where I have heart-to-heart talks with friends, chill out with my hubby, spend solitary moments with a book in hand, do my work, plan my future and very often, to people-watch.
In starting this blog, I hope to create a cosy virtual space to share about my life after becoming a WAHM - the mundane and the not so mundane and lessons I am learning along the journey.

Ai @ Sakura Haruka
Thanks Ai! You did a good job with your very detailed post
Hi Ruth,
I used Laneige skincare before, but I haven’t try their make-up. The Snow BB Cream looks cool, is it suitable for oily skin?
I find the Snow BB Soothing Cushion to be lighter in terms of texture than some others I’ve tried. I have combination skin and I found it good
Hi Ruth, do you know if Laneige do body products? e.g. moisturisers? I can’t tell whether the water bank products are face or body as it doesn’t say.. Although I assume face.
I live in the UK and there isn’t a Laneige counter here!
Thanks.
Hi Amy, from what I know, Laneige’s products are for the face. At least in Singapore, they don’t have any body care products.
