A Caterpillar, Birthday Celebration and More

We are almost at the end of August and I haven’t had time to really blog about what we’ve been up to lately. So here’s sharing some of the happenings this month in pictures (and quite some text)…

After months of talking about it, Kenan finally had the chance to keep a caterpillar! A hubby’s friend gave it to us. We watched it turned from a big fat green ‘worm’ into a pupa and then a butterfly. Unfortunately, we didn’t witness how it emerged from the cocoon. When we woke up one morning, it was already a butterfly. We opened the cover to set it free but after about 15 minutes and it didn’t fly off, we decided to leave the container at the front door. By the time we came back about half an hour later, it was gone…

Once, when we were at the playground below our apartment, a butterfly kept circling us. It looked like the one we had and we wondered if it was back to say hello…

We also celebrated two birthdays this month. One was of course Singapore’s i.e. the National Day. We were at my cousin’s place and my boy had so much fun playing with his cousins, and of course, watching the beautiful fireworks outside the window.

The second one was my husband’s birthday. We had a staycation at Orchard Mandarin over the weekend. Though they upgraded us to the premier room (Orchard Wing), there wasn’t any nice view I was hoping for.

To celebrate, we had buffet dinner at Triple Three. I like their spread and service was good. But at about $100 per head, I find it bit too expensive. But as we have the Eat@Mandarin card, we received some great discount. We certainly had a very enjoyable birthday dinner!

Kenan also started inline skating class this month. It was one of my favorite sports. So when it dawn on me that I can finally share something I love with my son, I felt really happy, and it’s a new feeling I have as a mom.

I think it’s a combination of the pride I feel for my boy, who has grown so big and can accomplish so much now (he’s no longer my baby!) and the joy of sharing something I enjoy with someone I love. It’s a new phase we’ve entered. It’s knowing that I no longer have to just play his kind of games but that he can also do my sports too. I’m definitely looking forward to more.

How has August been for you and family? What are some of the highlights of the month?

Many August Babies! I celebrated my younger son’s One birthday and my sis 29th birthday too. And I know what you meant by that pride when you see Kenan accomplishing things so much more now! They’re really big boys now! Nowadays Benjamin keeps telling me that he is a big boy now, hai! They really grow up too fast!

I think Ben feels he is a big boy as he has a didi :) Does he acts like he is a big brother and keeps tell the younger one what to do? I know some of my friend’s older child will do that :)

Kenan has grown taller=)!

August has been very eventful for us. Meaningful too. More family times because of the extensive holiday, as well as a short solo trip to KL. A big realization for me to delete the app of FB from my phone. Had been hook into phone FB for too long, time to use my time more seriously.

Happy September ahead;)!
